Better, smaller, neater
After years of laboratory trials, countless prototyping cycles, endless measuring and extensive licensing procedures, it is finished: the System 8 THX Ultra 2 - worthy successor to the Theater 8 Ultra 2. Only better, smaller and neater!

Subwoofer sensation with DSP
The most striking advance is the improvement of the subwoofer. Despite a two-thirds reduction (!) in the size of its casing, the System 8 bass speaker is the only subwoofer in the world to meet the exacting THX Ultra 2 standards with just one high-performance bass driver. A lengthy development process resulted in the extra-long stroke woofer with magnetic shielding which is primarily responsible for the incredible performance of the S 8000 SW (THX requirement!). The low distortion factor and extreme efficiency mean that a sine wave output of 500 watts can generate the same levels free of distortion (e.g. 114 dB) where much higher amplifier outputs used to be required. Don't forget that DSP unit with its fine tonal adjustment, either.

Flat diaphragm
Optimised for wall mounting, the S 800 FCR front speakers boast a modern flat diaphragm chassis in the bass and mid-range. The advantages of this include reduced distortion, minimised diffraction effects and ultra-low mid-range and treble fade, all combined with the minimal interference of the virtually reflection-free grid. It may be 40% smaller than its predecessor but it boasts improved sound quality - thanks to state-of-the-art chassis technologies, computer-aided Klippel optimisation techniques, and intensive tuning work by our engineers.

Dipole speakers
The three-way speakers have a 130 mm wall-mounted woofer which takes care of the fundamentals, while a 100 mm mid-range driver and a 25 mm dome on each side achieve front and rear dipole sound transmission. The sound transmitted in the direction of the listener diminishes automatically; only the sound reflected off the walls is heard. As a result, the audience has the acoustic perspective of a completely open soundscape.

THX Ultra 2 - no sacrifice on the home furnishing front
In unveiling its System 8 THX Ultra 2, Teufel reveals the first set of speakers with full high-end credentials which doesn’t dominate your living room but blends harmoniously into its surroundings. Top-spec home cinema can be elegant – with the System 8 THX Ultra 2.

Dipoles
These three-way speakers have a wall-side mounted 130 mm woofer for the ground element alongside a 100 mm midrange driver and 25 mm tweeter on each side makes sure you have equal sound from the front and back. This particular setup ensures that only sound from the back is perceived. Real THX sound has never been so realistic.

The Satellites
Although it's 40% smaller than the earlier model, the sound level has actually been increased - thanks to the latest driver technology, computer-aided Klippel-Optimization and intensive calibration efforts from our engineers.

The modern flat membrane driver technology in the bass and mid-range offers unique advantages: reduced distortion, minimum diffraction, and a clean and clear separation between the mid and treble. The attached, virtually non-reflective grille influences the ideal sound curve less than a conventional cover.

Clear Advantages: Dipole Speakers in the back
Sound components directly aimed at the audience are minimised; only the sound reflections from the wall are recognised. As a result, the audience finds themselves in a completely open soundscape.

The Bass
The magnetically shielded long-stroke woofer of the S 8000 SW, which was developed in many steps in accordance to the strict THX requirements, is responsible for its incredible performance. Low distortion and extreme efficiency contribute to the S 8000 SW's ability to produce (with only 500 watts) RMS with the same distortion-free levels (e.g. 114 dB at 40 Hz) which previously required significantly higher power ratings. The S 8000 SW impressively demonstrates the expertise that Teufel has obtained over 20 years of speaker and subwoofer construction.

Active Subwoofer S 8000 SW

Never before has a manufacturer used a 300 mm driver in a housing from 80 liters and still received the THX Ultra 2 certification – until Teufel did it. A level of 114 dB at 40 Hz with a linearity from +-1 dB. This is the highest of high performance and displays the absolute expertise Teufel has gained over 20 years of THX design and manufacturing.

The S 8000 SW is a THX subwoofer leader thanks to the lengthy and many-levelled design process oft he long-stroke subwoofer with included magnetic shielding (THX Ultra 2 requirements!).

Thanks to the new DSP unit the sub has an even lower harmonic distortion while having a higher efficiency. With its 500 watts of performance alongside a distortion-free level, an even amplifier performance is assured. A great side effect: you save energy. The digital signal processor (DSP) handles incoming analogue signals in digital and can play without distortion or blurring.

The features included in this sub far outweigh other conventional THX subwoofers:

A further highlight: The absolutely gorgeous glossy black housing with rounded corners delights. Thanks to the relatively slender housing, this subwoofer won’t stick out like sore thumb in your room arrangements. The included spikes make sure your subwoofer is stable on the ground.

An included remote control makes handling the subwoofers child’s play.

Satellite Speaker S 800 FCR

These front loudspeakers for System 8 THX Ultra 2 are completely redeveloped and a bit of an enigma: they're both smaller and better.

Even though they're 40% more compact than their predecessor, our engineers squeezed an even higher degree of sound quality out of them thanks to modern chassis technology, computer-supported Klippel optimization and extensive tuning.

The S 800 FCR THX Ultra 2 front loudspeakers employ modern flat-diaphragm chassis in the bass- and mid-tone ranges. During high tones a 25 mm fabric-dome tweeter comes into play. The tweeter can be turned up to the extremely high volume required by THX Ultra 2 and nevertheless deliver very detailed sound...
These three-way loudspeakers are optimized to be set up near a wall, but can also be placed freely within a space. A removable dust cover is shipped with the speakers to protect their valuable drivers.

The cover can be mounted and dismounted without the use of screws because screws could negatively influence sound quality. And that's not how we do things...

Dipole Speaker S 800 D (left)

The S 800 D THX Ultra 2 dipole speakers astound through their high capacity and small dimensions, which make them perfectly suitable for integration into any living space. We're not aware of any smaller dipole with THX Ultra 2 certification.

The 130 mm bass driver of these three-way speakers is situated on the wall-facing side of the speaker enclosures. It renders a sound foundation which makes it possible to identify even low-frequency effect signals in the background. The speakers' mid- and high-range drivers project forward and backwards, and their 25 mm domes are reverse-polarised to deliver diffuse, ambient sound. Sound projected directly at the listener is minimised in favour of ambient sound which is reflected off of walls and creates an effect of open spatiality. This omni-directional projection contributes to captivating and believable sound quality which could never be rivalled by conventional speakers.

To avoid diffraction, both sides are covered by enclosures conceived of as cowls without any screws, bushings or grommets in them. An integrated wall-mount enables the dipoles to be attached to a wall, which is necessary for their stunning effect to fully unfold. They can also be mounted against a rear wall at an angle using the optional AC 7500 SM wall-mount and lock.

Whatever you're watching, the System 8 has more than enough power to deliver a fully immersive sound, but fortunately, it's not all about the muscle. There's plenty of that of course, and it can deliver floor-shaking thrills aplenty when called for but with a bit of tweaking, there's no need to let the low end dominate the experience, and taming the beast that is the S 8000 SW sub is easily done. Thankfully, the bass is tightly controlled even at high volume, so it's rumble never seems to run away with the overall sound.

Speaking of which, there's a clarity and insight to the System 8 experience that does an excellent job of buffing up the murkier corners of a soundtrack and ensures you always feel immersed in the action, even when the action is decidedly muted.
